Why I Love the Community Bazaar

WP Phoenix

Community makes the world go round. Says me. These days I pretty much bring one message everywhere I go: Invest in your communities because they matter. More than software. More than infrastructure. The community that surrounds these is what makes or breaks it.

The community that surrounds WordPress is amazing. I always remember what made me fall so hard for WordPress. The community. I was, frankly, shocked upon my first exposure to the WordPress community. Humans genuinely interested in me. No peacocking. No feelings of less-than. No standing-around-occasionally-catching-eyes-but-refusing-to-interact behavior. People truly wanting to get to know each other. And more and more I hear the same stories from many WordPressers around the globe.

Which is why I find so much value in the Community Bazaar at WordCamp US! I love sharing all about my WordPress community with anyone who will lend me their ear. And WordCamp US is giving an awesome platform to do so! Online and at the event, WordCamp US is providing the stage for you to share all about your WordPress community to the world.

Here’s what some Community Bazaar participants have to say about last year’s event:

“The Community Bazaar drove the meaning of the WordPress community home for me last year at WCUS. I personally met, hugged, laughed and talked with nearly 800 people as I passed out Rosie pins and explained the purpose of Women Who WP.

Stories were shared. Alliances were created. Lives were changed.

The bazaar transformed a bustling tech conference into a life-changing experience. Professional and personal relationships leveled up, individuals found renewal, and community happened, ‘bazaarly.'”

Jen Miller of Women Who WP

And

“It was so cool to see WordPress communities from around the WORLD represented at the Community Bazaar at WCUS.”

Stephanie Brinley of WP Jackson
