Announcing the 2018 Kim Parsell Memorial Scholarship Winner: Nidhi Jain

Nidhi Jain

To honor the memory of Kim Parsell, the WordPress Foundation set up a memorial scholarship to ensure that Kim’s core values would continue to be infused into the WordPress community.

Kim was very keen on seeing women participate and thrive in all aspects of the WordPress community. We believe that this year’s recipient, Nidhi Jain, is a woman whom Kim would have liked to meet.

Nidhi lives in Udaipur, India, where she works full time as a WordPress developer, building custom themes and client sites. Nidhi started using WordPress in 2014 and as she continued learning more about the project, she learned about the community involvement opportunites and how the WP ecosystem works. She was drawn to the community because of the love and support she feels from her fellow WordPress-ers around the world. Soon, Nidhi began to volunteer at meetups, organize WordCamps, and contributing to WordPress core. She had this to say about the global community:

Whatever role it was, I was always welcomed by the WordPress community and whenever I needed some help, I could find someone who would walk me through it. It’s rare to find and meet such amazing people and this is something which inspires me to be a part of the WordPress Community.

Nidhi is delighted to be joining us in Nashville in December! Here’s what she had to say about being selected:

Being selected for the Kim Parsell Memorial Scholarship is an honor, achievement and a proud moment for me. I will try my best to make the most out of it and give back to the community in all possible ways. Since I have been a WordCamp volunteer and organizer in the last few years, I am excited to see and learn from WordCamp US. I am sure, I will have a lot of sweet memories and wonderful learnings to take back home.

When Nidhi isn’t working or organizing events for her local community, you can find her spending time with friends and relatives.
